Helmet sizing

Find the shell and liner combo that feels right.

A better fit improves comfort and helps the helmet do its job. Measure once, match the size band, and fine-tune with the liner kit.

  • Measure where a hat would normally sit.
  • Match the shell size first, then refine with liners.
  • Snug, level, and stable is the goal.

How to measure

Keep the tape level and measure the widest part of the head.

The easiest way is to measure where a hat would sit. That puts the tape just above the ears and across the forehead, which is the best starting point for helmet fit.

1

Use a soft tape or string

Take the measurement around the same spot where your helmet is meant to sit, not higher on the crown.

2

Measure in inches

Compare the result with the size ranges below. If you are between sizes, choose the larger helmet and fine-tune the fit with the surrounding size liner kit.

3

Check the fit in motion

A correctly fitted helmet should feel snug and stay level without tipping back, twisting, or drifting down.

Size bands

Match your measurement to the right helmet family.

The three shell sizes are adjusted with sizing liners. That means fit changes are straightforward once the shell family is right.

18.5" - 20.5"

Mini Lifer Helmet

Best fit for smaller heads. If you are buying for a child or someone without a matching shell size, start here.

20.5" - 23.5"

Lifer family

This range includes the S1 Lifer Helmet, Retro Lifer Helmet, Lifer Visor Helmet, and related fit options.

23.5" - 25.5"

Mega Lifer Helmet

Choose this for larger heads. It keeps the fit straightforward and avoids forcing a smaller shell to do the wrong job.

Liner system

Shell size and liner thickness work together.

The Mini Lifer, Lifer, and Mega Lifer are three different shell sizes. If you land between sizes, it is usually best to move up to the larger shell and use the surrounding size liner kit to tighten the fit the right way.

  • Use the liner kit to refine the fit inside the shell size you need.
  • If you are gifting a helmet and do not know the head size, start with the liner discussion first.
  • Many younger riders fit the Mini Lifer, while older riders often move into the Lifer range.

Fit check

A proper fit should feel snug, level, and stable.

The helmet should sit level on the head, about midway down the forehead, with the straps adjusted so the shell stays put when you move.

  1. 1 It should not tip back on the head.
  2. 2 It should not twist side to side.
  3. 3 It should not sit too low on the forehead.
  4. 4 It should feel snug, not painful or loose.
