Heimana Reynolds breaks down his slam at the 2014 Vans Pool Party

“A few years ago I chose to make the switch from a regular soft foam helmet to the S1 Lifer Helmet and I am very glad for that because I know that helmet saved my life.” – Heimana Reynolds

”Thank god for the S1 Lifer Helmet.” – Matt Reynolds

“Without rambling on about a bunch of helmet mumbo jumbo I can break it down like this – soft foam helmets do not protect your head all that well in the case of a serious slam. The impact energy goes right through the soft foam and rattles your brain super bad. There have been a few (a few too many) pro and am skaters that have suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries after slamming in a soft foam helmet. And a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) is bad because sometimes you have loss of memory or mood swings or depression or dizziness that can last for months and years after the TBI. Life is hard enough as it is – you don’t need to be dealing with stuff like that. TBI’s are not good. The S1 Lifer Helmet is constructed with EPS Fusion foam and the high impact energy gets absorbed (dispersed) by the foam and 5x less energy rattles brain. Just to be clear, there is no magic helmet that prevents all head injuries but test lab results show that the S1 Lifer Helmet protects the brain at least 5x more than regular “soft foam” skate helmets.

We test every batch of S1 Lifer Helmets to make sure they meet the multiple cert and the high impact cert. The Eps fusion foam needs to be blended just right – not too hard and not too soft – to pass both tests with flying colors. Some of the bigger helmet companies test their helmets maybe 1x a year and they never really know if the foam was as good as it should be. When I saw Heimana slam I knew for sure that he was wearing the best helmet possible. ” – Dan McCashin (Co-Owner S1 Helmet Co.) #danfroms1
